Thank you for choosing DashDim. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection and usage in connection with the DashDim mobile application.
DashDim is designed to provide a highly dimmable software overlay filter and root-level physical backlight control for Android devices and aftermarket automotive head units (AHUs).
Data Safety & Collection
We do not collect, monitor, store, share, or transmit any personal information, telemetry, or user data.
DashDim calculates sunset/sunrise cycles, schedules custom time offsets, listens to car MCU reverse signals, and runs backlight overlays entirely locally on your device. It does not request internet permission and never transmits data over any network.
Requested Permissions & Usage
To provide its dimming and safety automation features, DashDim requests system permissions for:
- System Alert Window (Draw Over Other Apps): Required to display the translucent software overlay that darkens the display beyond the standard Android hardware slider minimum.
- Accessibility Service API (Optional): Used solely to display the software dimming overlay over system-controlled screen regions like status and navigation bars. No screen content is monitored or stored.
- Location Access (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): Used strictly to query local coordinates once to run offline astronomical solar math calculating local sunset and sunrise times.
- Superuser / Root Access (Optional): If explicitly enabled by the user, this is used to directly write dimming thresholds to system backlight driver files to physically dim the display's LEDs.
- Foreground Service & Boot Completed: Required to keep monitoring scheduler timers and headlight intents active in the background and trigger automatically when the device boots up.
Third-Party Services
DashDim does not integrate with any third-party analytics libraries, advertising frameworks, or remote diagnostic tracking SDKs.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted directly within the application update logs or on our developer page. Your continued use of the application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
